"This continues the theme of struggles with gym equipment. I have my own theory about treadmills being used to raise the heartbeat. I've come very close to this sort of dramatic disaster, helped by a stray shoe lace on one occasion, and I've watched others trip backwards, plummet backwards, stumble backwards, etc. So it's quite clear to me. Fear is driving up our heart rates: especially fear of the embarrassment of hurtling backwards into those cool, competent people on the machines behind you."
